Hitler - ein Film aus Deutschland

„Hitler - ein Film aus Deutschland ( Hitler: A Film from Germany )“,

Embarrassingly we didn´t even start to see it that evening and just had drinks, shying away from the supposedly heavy subject and its length... . I watched it later by myself ( but also wouldn´t make it in one session).

Touki Bouki

„Touki-Bouki“ ( Senegal 1973, Director: Djibril Diop Mambéty, 95 min )

 

Just recently Mati Diop, the niece of Djibril Diop Mambéty, made a documentary about „Touki Bouki“ and its protagonists: „Mille soleils (A Thousand Suns)“, first shown in 2013 at the documentary film festival in Marseille where it won the main prize in the International Competition. Unfortunately I haven´t come to see it yet, but here, on the AFRICAN WOMEN IN CINEMA BLOG you can read a detailed review. Also, you can read an interview from 2012 with Mati Diop here.

archived seminar "TRICK-RAUM" // WS 2004-05 HfG Karlsruhe

While studying at the HfG Karlsruhe a friend of mine, Susanna Jerger, and I proposed a self-made screening/seminar at the faculty of Media Arts for one semester. Once a week we showed a film that had special animation techniques, visual effects or a particular scenographic approach, among them of course many basic classics, like "Metropolis", "Playtime" or the short films by Buster Keaton.
